Writing a book has never been easier, especially with ChatGPT, where you can write a complete book in just a few minutes. This is something that could take you days or even months just to write a few chapters of a single book.
Writing a book in Chat GPT is simple, but you must know how to do it correctly. As you are aware, the AI has some limitations that prevent it from writing extremely long texts. So you need to know your way around these limitations. In this post, I’ll take you through how you can write your first book using ChatGPT in no time.
First, you need an idea for the story you want ChatGPT to help you write. Just so you know, creating a story on the platform is not that straightforward; you will need to have some good prompting skills.
But don’t worry, I’ve got you covered I have done this before for a client, and I will show you how to go about it. It’s simple. Just take the approach of how you would write a long-form article on the platform.
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to create a book using ChatGPT.
Determine the type of story you want to write.
To start your book-writing journey, you need to have an idea for the book. Identify the audience, and maybe just try to project how much you would make after doing all the work.
There are numerous niches you can write a book about; it can be a self-help book, a children’s book, an adult book (even though Chat GPt will not write that), an online marketing book, and the list goes on.
After you’ve narrowed it down, you’ll need to determine how much money you’ll need to get started. You’ll need the cash for marketing your book. And you also need to identify where you’ll host and publish it. I’ll show you some of the best self-publishing services online later.
With that in mind, we can now proceed to the next level of our book writing.
One more thing: you can still use chatGPT to do all this for you; all you have to do is ask.
Brainstorm the book title.
After doing research, it’s likely you already know the title of your book. However, if you don’t have the title yet, we can use ChatGPT for that.
By now, I believe you can describe what your story will be about, and you can write it even in a single sentence because for chat gpt to give the best results, we need to give it context.
Here is a simple prompt you can use to generate a title.
`generate book titles about a lady who fought for gender equality. It took her many years, but the changes were finally passed into law in her 90s, and she was happy.”
As you can see, we were descriptive of what we wanted, and we gave the storyline. Give context. Now let’s see the result.
Isn’t that just amazing? Now try it yourself, but ask it to write five titles so that you have many to choose from.
You can modify the prompt so that it includes the length, for example:
generate five book titles for a book about a lady who fought for gender equality. It took her many years, and the changes were finally passed into law in her 90s, but she was happy.
Generate the book’s chapters.
You can do it yourself, but the faster way is to use Chat gpt to do that for you. You can write a simple prompt for that. Here is how, but first, you must have the title you generated earlier. If you have all that, then let’s write.
`You are an experienced writer who has experience in gender equality, generate 15 chapters for the book title [the title you chose earlier]`
Remember to write your prompt in a way that matches your title and niche.
You see, the prompt is now a little bit different from what we wrote earlier. We’re using role-playing here to make the AI give us something special.
Write every chapter one by one.
You can do this simply by telling the chatGPT to write each chapter one by one, but it has some limitations that will make it stop at some point.
The right way to go about this is to go chapter by chapter and create an outline for each.
Take the chapters one by one and create an outline for each. Remember, you want a long book, so we have to go with the long-form method of writing using AI.
After generating the outlines for the chapters, now it’s time to write the outlines for each chapter. In simple terms, go to any chapter, take its outline, and write content for each outline. Then compile the content into a complete chapter. Do the same for the other chapters.

Compile Your Book
Now that you have all the chapters written, bring them together and combine them in the order in which the chapters are supposed to appear. Make sure your chapters flow; you may get confused with the large number of texts now. By this point, I hope you have a table of contents for your book, as that is what will guide the flow of chapters.
Now that you have your book ready, there is one important thing you should do: remove any errors that may be present in the text. The errors could be spelling mistakes, grammar mistakes, or any other errors you can identify.
Read it over and over again to make sure it is completely error-free. You can give it to a friend to proofread for you because sometimes you may not see your errors, but a friend can identify them.
The other way of doing this is by submitting your book to editors, maybe on Freelancer or Upwork, who can do a good job of identifying and fixing any errors within your text.

For your book to stand out among the rest, you need to give it a beautiful, catchy cover design. There are several places you can create amazing book covers online for free.
