How to Write an Essay with ChatGPT

Do you want to write high-quality essays with Chat GPT but don’t know how? Well, you’re in the right place. In this post, I will take you through how you can use the power of OpenAI’s chatbot to research and create a high-quality essay.

Writing an essay manually has become a thing of the past; people have been outsourcing essay writing for years. There are several platforms where you can outsource your essay writing and get it done in no time. Here are some of the platforms on which you can outsource your essay writing.

  1. EssayPro.Com
  2. IWriteEssays.Com

I know you may be wondering why I brought all that up in this post, but I just wanted to show you other platforms you could use to write essays other than ChatGPT.

Anyway, let’s get started on how to use Chat GPT to write the best essay that will blow your teachers away. It’s simple and direct if you want just a simple essay, but if you want to write the best essay, then you’ll need to master a few things.

Writing Prompts

Anytime you want to get any type of information from ChatGPT or any other AI chatbot, you need to know how to write the prompts the right way. A prompt can be as simple as

Write an essay about “The Effect of AI on Education.”

This can be enough if you want a simple, generic essay that will not give you the good marks you need. If you want the best quality, then you need to write it better. I will show you how shortly after this.

Conduct your research.

Before you start writing a prompt for ChatGPT, you need to have done the research and know the details about the topic. This is required so that you can always fact-check the results given by the AI, as you know that chat GPT has a problem with being overly confident even if it’s completely wrong.

You could use chat gpt to do research; that’s okay, but then you will need to know what you want to write about. So make sure you have the title, an outline, and any materials you would need when writing the essay. You could still use chat gpt for this; all you have to do is write your prompts the right way, and it will be able to generate the title and even the outline for you.

Now that you have all the pieces together, let’s move on to the next part.

Writing an Essay Using ChatGPT

In this part, I will take you step-by-step through how you can write your essay with chat gpt. From creating the perfect prompts the right way to determining the length of the essay and tweaking the level of the writer, and more.

Generating the Title

Generating the title of an article or essay is pretty much the same. You may have your title ready, but you can still make it more appealing. Here is how.

Title Generation Prompt

Generate five titles for an essay about “The Effect of AI on Schools.”

This prompt will generate five titles for your essay to choose from.

Title Optimization Prompt

If you already have a title in mind, then you can use chat gpt to optimize it to your liking. For example, you could optimize the title to emphasize a certain aspect of your essay.

Give me three optimized versions of this essay title: “Effect of AI on Education,” focusing on the AI effects

This will command ChatGPT to give you new versions of your titles optimized for the effects of AI aspects.

You can tweak it to focus on other aspects of your essay; the choice is yours. The bottom line is that we want a great title for our essay.

Now that we have a good title, let us move on to the next section.

Create The Outline For the Essay

If you want fine-grain control, you could do it yourself, but Chat GPT can create the outline for you.

Just so you know, we need the outline so that we can have a proper understanding of each and every part of the essay. Besides, the outline is a requirement when dealing with long forms of text such as this.

Let’s proceed and create a good outline for the essay.

Create an essay outline with the title [the title you chose earlier].

This is fine, but you could add some spice to it by instructing the AI to display a particular section first. Say you wanted something like “Use Cases of AI in School” to appear first, then you could just write a prompt for it.

Create an essay outline with the title [the title you chose earlier] and start with “Use Cases of AI in School” after the introduction.

This will instruct chat gpt to place “AI Use Cases in School” immediately after the introduction.

Try it and see what you get.

Use the outline to create the essay.

This is where we will write the whole essay using chat gpt. You could go the direct route; for example, if you’re still on the same conversation chat, you could just write a direct prompt like

Use the outline we generate and create the essay with the same title.

This approach is easy, but it has some limitations. For example, chat gpt is designed to only generate a certain number of words per response, so when it reaches that limit, it will stop. You could just write “continue” when it stops until the essay is over.

There is another way you could go about this called “long form text generation. With this method, you will have control over each and every section of the essay. Here is how you can do this:

Separate each section the way it appears on the outline. Then take the sections one by one and feed them to ChatGPT to write.

Here is how. The best thing about this is that you can now comfortably instruct the AI to write to a certain length.

Based on the outline you generated, write this section of the essay: [Section you want to be written] and make it 350 words or more.

This will allow the AI to write the section and generate 350 or more words. Now do that for the other sections.

Remember to include the level of the person writing the essay, whereby you could include role-playing in the prompt.

Imagine you’re a third-year Computer Science major student. Now, based on the outline you generated, write this section of the essay: [the section you want to write] and write at least 350 words.

This will make the AI write essays like a third-year student doing computer science.

Combine the sections and complete the essay.

After all, what remains is just taking each paragraph and combining them together to form the complete essay. Remember to proofread each part carefully and fact-check everything before you finish the essay.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by, and I hope this was helpful.
